Painting is corporeal, born from the eye, in the mind, has a marked destiny: it cannot remain just an idea. I cannot provide an explanation, nor find a justification, the reasons that push me to use black rather than blue, to spread white over white, to use canvas or paper, powder or pigment, remain unexplainable. Now I have discovered steel, fascinating, tactile and cerebral, it presented itself as a new material to navigate through painting, offering new possibilities and transformations. I had never thought about this.

So Velasco describes the project commissioned by Binda. Velasco, one of the most interesting painters on the Italian artistic scene, has been asked to create over thirty customized images, recalling the fascinating symbolic and metaphorical idea that watches and jewelry inspire. The protagonist of the project is matter, steel, and the energy that can derive from it. Over metropolitan backgrounds, Velasco has imagined scenes that are sometimes figurative, ironic, provocative, and able to communicate the spirit and the idea generated by the products.
